I used a denture for forty years, having had my front upper teeth extracted when I was sixteen. The move to dental implants is the best investment I have ever made. I talk for a living, as a teacher, and the extra confidence this has given me ‘that nothing will slip in mid-sentence’ is a huge morale booster. My new front teeth look perfectly natural and I feel they are completely part of me. I recommend the procedure to everyone I meet who admits to any difficulties with dentures. Words just can't describe how much I appreciate you giving me my smile back. I have been a patient of Dr. Gillies, of Avalon Dental since 1985. As I was a very nervous patient, it took a great deal for me to come to trust Dr. Gillies, but I eventually did. In that time, I had been diagnosed with Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ). Dr. Gillies recognized my symptoms and quickly started me on a program that would rectify the problem. All my adult life, I was self conscience with my smile. My front teeth were quite stained and it showed when I smiled as I always covered my mouth. Dr. Gillies convinced me by helping me see that by fixing my teeth, I could have a wonderful smile. Dr. Gillies proceeded to repair my teeth. First by having four root canals on my front teeth. This was not an easy task as he always had to be aware of my TMJ. My jaw would tire easily and would pain. Dr. Gillies showed the utmost of patience. Eventually, I would have my teeth capped. I remember the first day I went back to work with my teeth finished. The ladies that I worked with were so impressed with my “white” teeth that I couldn’t stop smiling. Now my smile is radiant reflecting my new confidence.

Dr. Stewart Gillies has been our family dentist for over 20 years. We have always been very satisfied with the services he and his team has provided. When we relocated to Ottawa and later to Corner Brook, we retained him as out dentist and availed of his services when we were home for visits. Our children who now live in the NWT and Calgary still do the the same. Dr. Gillies is not only a very skilled dentist but a very caring, patient, and accommodating person.

I have been a patient of Dr. Stuart MacDonald for over 30 years. I had been pointed in his direction by an aunt who had been a regular patient of his for some time, and was assured that the filling “won’t hurt a bit”. She was right. Dr. MacDonald provided pleasant surroundings, an extraordinarily friendly manner, a soothing Scottish voice, a totally comfortable treatment of my tooth problem, and a not-so-subtle list of reasons why I should get regular check-ups! The treatment rooms are cozy, and there are even televisions in the ceiling! I have come away from all my appointments - regularly on a six-month basis for three decades and including everything from X-rays to root canals - with a smile, even if it is a bit crooked at times from “the freezing”. I have wholeheartedly recommended the professionalism of the dentists and the supporting staff at Avalon Dental to family, friends and work colleagues. A visit to a dentist should be no more painful than brushing your teeth and the team at Avalon Dental can prove it!!

Even into adulthood, I always considered trips to the dentist to be a traumatic event to be avoided. This changed dramatically when I moved back to the province and started going to Avalon Dental. The dentists and staff are knowledgeable, efficient, professional and friendly. The location is also very convenient. Did I say they were friendly? I actually enjoy my dental visits now.

My husband Bill Melendy and I have been patients of Avalon Dental Centre for many years. I consider myself to be a “regular” visitor to Dr. Peddle’s office. Quite a few years ago, I had a very real fear of going to the dentist (as I am sure a lot of people have and at times this fear would keep me from going to the dentist on a regular basis) however, I discussed this with Dr. Peddle, and I have found that she has always made every effort and has gone out of her way to make me feel comfortable, pain free during treatment, and aware of what she is doing at all times.
I do not stay awake and worry the night before my appointment, I feel very calm and comfortable in her hands. During the last 10 years, I have had root canals, crowns, etc., and have been extremely satisfied with the wonderful care I have received from Dr. Peddle. It is very much appreciated, and I feel very fortunate to have such a caring dentist.
