Dr. Denise Peddle
Dr. Peddle is a native Newfoundlander, originally from Hodge’s Cove, Trinity Bay. She graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Science in 1986. She continued her studies in Halifax, NS, where she completed the Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1990. She then joined our team at Avalon Dental Centre the same year and became a partner in 1994.
Denise enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, including implants, crowns and bridges, and has a particular interest in the aesthetic industry. She attends continuing education programs on a regular basis.
Outside the office, she enjoys cooking, reading, yoga and fitness, and getting involved in her children’s extracurricular activities. Denise is married and has a son and a daughter.
Dr. Claire Jamieson
Dr. Jamieson is originally from St. John’s; she was accepted into the Doctor of Dental Surgery Program at Dalhousie University (Halifax, NS) in September 2006 following the completion of a Bachelor of Science degree (major Biology) from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Having enjoyed her time as a student working at Avalon Dental Centre, Claire returned home to practice as an associate here upon graduation in 2010. In 2016, she became a part owner of the practice along with Dr. Kristle Lambert and Dr. Denise Peddle.
Claire enjoys the variety of general dentistry procedures and regularly attends continuing education courses. She particularly enjoys all aspects of restorative dentistry.
Outside the clinic, Claire loves spending time with her family, and their basset hound. She also likes to travel, hike, bake and read whenever she can.
Dr. Kristle Lambert
Dr. Lambert is originally from the small community of Grates Cove, NL. She initially moved to St. John’s after graduating high school to attend Memorial University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in psychology. She then went on to complete her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Dalhousie University in 2012. During her dental education, Kristle has won several awards, including the Dr. Frank Woodbury Memorial Prize for the second highest academic standing in her class, the Quintessence award for greatest proficiency in periodontics, NSDA Prize for greatest proficiency in pharmacology, Dr. I.K. Lubetsky Scholarship for greatest proficiency in oral and maxillofacial surgery, and the American Academy of Endodontics Prize for greatest proficiency in endodontics.
Kristle started her dental career at Avalon Dental Centre immediately after graduating from dental school in 2012 where she enjoys practicing all aspects of general dentistry. Her particular interests are cosmetic and implant dentistry as well as dental bridges and crowns. Kristle regularly attends continuing education courses to ensure she stays current with the latest technologies and treatments. In 2016, she became a partner at Avalon Dental Centre.
She currently lives in St. John’s with her husband Brian and their two adorable kitties, Milo and Ozzie. In her spare time, Kristle enjoys fitness, binge-watching Netflix TV series and curling up with a coffee and a good book.
Dr. Dyar Bikey
Dr. Bikey is a Newfoundland transplant from Saskatchewan. He was born in the middle east of Kurdish descent and came to Canada as an infant. After living in Newfoundland, PEI, and Manitoba, his family settled in Nipawin, Saskatchewan where he spent most of his formative years. Following secondary studies in Nipawin, Dyar embarked on further education in physiology, kinesiology and dentistry at the University of Saskatchewan culminating in a DMD in 2015.
After convocation, Dyar moved to St. John’s where he has enjoyed general practice with Avalon Dental Centre. His array of interests include aesthetic dentistry, digital dentistry, implant dentistry, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, and outreach. He loves expanding his knowledge of dentistry through various avenues of continuing education.
Dyar believes in a healthy balance of work and play. He makes it a point to travel and spend quality time with family out west. As well, he spends his spare time cycling, jogging with his dog Zooka, hockey with the b’ys, reading, and driving around the Avalon Peninsula in search of the perfect wave to surf.
Dr. Schona Grimes
Schona was born and raised in St. John’s where she started her post-secondary education at Memorial University and graduated in 2012 with an undergraduate degree in biochemistry, minor in chemistry. She went on to Halifax to attend Dalhousie University and graduated in 2017 from the dentistry program.
Practicing dentistry has been Schona’s ambition from a young age. Throughout her undergraduate and high school studies, she was a familiar face at Avalon Dental as she worked on our reception desk for several summers. She’s very pleased to be back at Avalon Dental to offer her services as a full-time dentist.
Schona lives with her husband and Samoyed husky Nahla in the St. John’s area. They enjoy travelling, camping, and spending time outdoors – their next goal is to complete the East Coast Trail. Schona also enjoys curling up with a good book.
Dr. Kash Kohli
Raised and educated in India, Dr. Kashish (Kash) Kohli has a background in humanitarian work and activism in assisting those less fortunate. After obtaining his Bachelor in Dental Surgery and one-year GPR in 2007, he went on to offer subsidised dentistry to those who could not afford it. He has been involved in projects as a community worker for various health education programs, organizing fundraisers and dental camps for children.
Dr. Kohli obtained his Dental Hygiene degree at Regency with a Dental Hygiene Orthodontic diploma from George Brown (Toronto) and Doctor in Dental Surgery degree from Dalhousie University (Halifax).
Reputed for his honesty and compassion, Dr. Kohli believes in treating people how you want to be treated – like a family. He puts relationships over treatment, focusing on the whole person and listening with empathy. He moved to St. John’s with his family in hope of a new life to get away from Toronto’s constant hustle as he loves the east coast spirit! His passion is in combining old-tested treatments with new technologies that digital dentistry has to offer, while promoting preventative and restorative dentistry and the importance of healthy, lifelong relationships with your dentist. Kash is fluent in four languages and in his spare time he likes to play pool, table tennis, badminton and his Xbox.
